THE AA PREAMBLE

WHICH OUTLINES OUR PURPOSE AND IS TYPICALLY READ OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF MEETINGS

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Am I an Alcoholic?

The best way to find out is to contact us,

try some of the links to information that may help you decide below

Am I too young to be an alcoholic?

More and more young people are joining AA, they are recognising their drink problem/alcoholism earlier in life, which is great and spares that person years of suffering if they choose recovery in their younger years. The recovery movement amongst young people is huge now and AA holds young persons meetings. AA welcomes all new members. No-one in AA is ever diagnosed as an alcoholic: the decision is left to the individual.

Is AA Religious?

The answer is NO, the 12 Step Recovery Program will work if you do and if you do not believe in God. We have athiests and agnostics that have achieved sobriety in AA.

Please read the useful document about

the GOD word below:

The AA Program

The AA 12 Step Programme is effective where the member is Honest, Open Minded and Willing to attend regular meetings and works the 12 Steps of recovery.
